Day-by-Day Itinerary & Highlights

Days 1–2: Arrival in Paris, Cliffs of Étretat, Normandy & Versailles

We flew Air France business class into Paris, and rented a car for our Parisian road trip. Our first stop was the breathtaking Cliffs of Étretat. From there, we visited Normandy Beach in the evening and stayed the night in a cute little hotel. We explored again in the morning, and had the best chocolate chip muffin of my life at La Petite Plage. We then drove to the Mémorial de Caen which was incredible, before heading to Versailles Palace. At the palace we were able to explore the palace gardens, take the mini train to the other palace sites and row a boat on the main water way within the gardens. We had dinner around the corner at Sushi Royal before returning the car and checking into the Hilton Paris Opera.

Days 3–7: Paris

On our first morning in Paris we climbed the Arc de Triomphe which has the best views,  and visited the Louvre “Lazarus Maze” as I not so fondly refer to it. I would say 10 out of 10 don’t recommend the Louvre but it’s a must do for first time visitors. We spent several hours stuck in enormous crowds that barely moved, all squished together and it was extremely hot. When trying to exit we followed the signs and map and sortie (exit in French) would lead us to dead end after dead end. Later that evening we had dinner at the very popular and I would say overrated Pink Mamma, if you chose to do this you must have a reservation! We ended our evening at Moulin Rouge, obvious to everyone except me it’s mostly in French but still worth it and some parts are in English.

The next morning we took a French baking class at 25 Rue de Bretagne where we got to try pastries and learned to make the most delicious fresh bread which we got to take with us. While Paris has a great subway system it still requires a lot of walking and having this bread snack on hand was perfect. Along with a subway pass you will want to get the Paris Museum Pass. We used this after our baking class to visit Notre Dame (under construction during our visit), Sainte-Chapelle & the Pantheon. That evening we cruised the Seine and got to watch the Eiffel Tower dance from our boat.

Our third day in Paris started with a perfume making class where we got to make our own perfume to take home. After our class we went to Museum L’Armee at Les Invalides before climbing 674 steps to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. There are a total of 1665 steps to the top but you are only allowed to climb to the second floor. Gustave Eiffel used to climb these steps everyday to his apartment at the top of the tower which you can still see today.

On our last day in Paris we took a double decker open top hop on and off bus tour followed by an Emily in Paris walking tour, which was very cool and followed Emily’s very long walk to work in heels every day from that beautiful apartment building with the charming square. We also got lunch at Gabriel’s restaurant “Les Deux Compères” which is actually called Terra Nera and is delicious. We also stopped at La Boulangerie Moderne to get pain au chocolate which is where Emily tried her first in the show, also delicious.

We recommend the Go City pass for first time visitors.

Days 8–10: Disneyland Paris

Following our week in Paris we took the train to Disneyland Paris, dropped our bags with Disney express luggage service at Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy train station for transport to the hotel. This can be done if you are staying on property and they can also hold your bags if you’re just going for the day. We walked right through security and rope dropped the park. The park was under construction but still amazing and we spent the next 3 days here. Crushes Coaster and Avengers Flight Force are amazing and I could ride them endlessly. Thunder Mountain is so much better and it goes underground below the water. You also must see the dragon in the castle basement and climb to the top of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. We were able to ride every ride and see all the shows without getting the premier pass, I would only recommend attempting this if you are able to rope drop and have a full day at each park.

We stayed at Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne which is toy story themed because my husband loves Toy Story. We both did not enjoy this hotel and found it pretty run down. We toured all the other hotels and kicked ourselves for not booking Disney’s Hotel New York which is Marvel themed, epic and gorgeous. It’s also closer to the parks but that’s not a major deal as all the hotels are pretty close and have shuttle buses.

Day 11: Verona & Venice

Leaving Paris was bittersweet but our journey continued as we flew to Verona, via Air France Hop in business class. We spent the day exploring Verona, we saw Juliet’s house, Juliet’s Balcony and love letter wall then took a train to Venice where we had a private attendant bring us to our private water shuttle to our hotel via the most beautiful boat. We stayed at Hotel Monaco And Grand Canal which was beautiful but I do not recommend the very expensive and not good hotel restaurant. We had a gondola ride which I had dreamt of my entire life but our gondolier wasn’t very good and the water smelled so bad, as do the inner streets of the city. Stay on the outskirts there is nothing on the inside of the city, you will get lost even with directions and it is gross. the next morning we walked to Walk to Doges Palace and Piazza San Marco on the way back to the train station

Day 12: Florence

Once we arrived in Florence, we used the Bounce app and found a hotel right near the train station that held our bags for the day for a small fee. This allowed us to get into the museums as they have a no bags policy. Once we were done visiting the Gallaria dell Accademia (fun fact, walk behind the statue of David and you’ll see his butt), Uffizi Gallaria, and Giardino Bardini we walked back to get our bags and take the train to our hotel. We stayed at Hilton Florence Metropole which is a little out of the way but has a really cool spa pool area.

Day 13: Pisa, Grosseto & Saturnia Hot Springs

The next morning we took the train to Pisa, saw the Leaning Tower  and had pizza for lunch at Ristorante Pizzeria L’Europeo which had a view of the tower and some pretty good pizza.  When we finished lunch we took the train to Grosseto, rented a car and drove to Saturnia which was a beautiful drive through the Tuscan countryside.

We were supposed to stay in a Starz box at La Maliosa Farm and have a horse back winery tour but a large storm rolled through canceling our plans and causing us to scramble for a place to stay during our short train ride. We thankfully found Terme Di Saturnia which was pretty expensive but well worth it, they were absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend them enough! We checked in, got our robes and went into the origin of the hot spring. We also had access to the public hot spring via a turnstile only hotel guests could use where we also had access after hours. We got a private driver to bring us to dinner at their restaurant which was the best food of the entire trip. They made us pasta in a cheese wheel and it is a MUST! The next morning we got up and used the resort’s electric bikes to ride to the most beautiful hot spring. This hot spring was the reason we drove out and it was amazing. After enjoying the hot spring we played golf at the resort before heading out to Rome.

Days 14–16: Rome

We spent three days in Rome and that’s all you need. We arrived in the evening, had dinner and then had a private spa all to ourselves at Artemis Spa. We had an amazing massage and then had the entire spa to ourselves from 8-11. They also provided us with champagne, food and chocolate covered strawberries.

The next morning we walked the Roman Forum, Palatine hill and the colosseum, we then had a pizza making class, visited the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain which was under construction sadly but we still got to throw our coin in the fountain. We rented a vespa for the day which I highly recommend for the true roman experience. We drove around the colosseum at night which is gorgeous.

The next day we had a pasta making class followed by a tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica. That evening we had dinner at Alfredo alla Scrofa which is the birthplace of Alfredo. The presentation was a really cool experience and the food was really good but I prefer cream in my alfredo.

Days 17–18: London & Stonehenge

Early the next morning we flew to London, drove out to Stonehenge which is a must and then back to London for the night. We drove through other neighborhoods on the way back from Stonehenge and got to experience rural England.

On our last day we took our double decker red bus hop on and off tour of London. I was very happy we got to see the posting ceremony for the horse guards. We also got to see Buckingham palace, Westminster Abby, took a spin on the London eye, Got to experience afternoon tea at the library overlooking the eye, Big Ben and the Abby. After our tea we toured tower bridge climbed the shard finishing our London experience with a uber river cruise back to our hotel

We recommend the Go City pass for first time visitors.
